The volunteer chair oversees the volunteer committee, which will work to acquire volunteers to help with planning and preparing for the event, as well as secure day-of-event volunteers. The volunteer chair will assist in the training and development of these volunteers and will work to ensure that event guests and volunteers have a positive experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend Cal Spirit 30 on July 19, 2015, at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.
- Understand and abide by the American Cancer Society’s policies and gala guidelines.
- Understand the American Cancer Society’s mission, and work to increase the visibility of the Society and the Cal Spirit 30 event in the community.
- Provide connections through professional and social contacts to enhance the success of the event.
- Work with the production chair to determine day-of-event volunteer needs.
- Work with your American Cancer Society staff partner to develop volunteer information packets to assist in recruiting day-of-event volunteers.
- Work with your Society staff partner to assign volunteer jobs according to the day-of-event volunteer plan at least one month in advance of the event.
- Solicit support for an underwriter for food, beverages, and departure gifts for event volunteers.
- Organize an advanced training for volunteers working in specialized areas (i.e., volunteer managers, registration, banking, cashiers, auctions), and work with the event committee to facilitate the training.
- Send post-event thank-you notes to all event volunteers. Attend committee meetings.
