The event chair provides vision and leadership to the chairs and committees as they obtain sponsorships, donations, and event attendees, and plan for the Cal Spirit 30 event. The chair is a leader for the committee and oversees all aspects of the event. Duties and Responsibilities: Attend Cal Spirit 30 on July 19, 2015, at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. Understand and abide by the American Cancer Society’s policies and gala guidelines. Understand the American Cancer Society’s mission, and work to increase the visibility of the Society and the Cal Spirit 30 event in the community. Provide connections through professional and social contacts to enhance the success of the event. Coordinate the planning, execution, and evaluation of the event. Assist in the recruitment and management of the committee chairs. Oversee and facilitate committee meetings, with assistance from your American Cancer Society staff partner. Update your Society staff partner on a weekly basis. Assist in meeting the event’s budget goals. Approve event collateral materials, including the invitation and program design. Assist your Society staff partner in prospecting, recruiting, and confirming event speakers and an emcee. Assist in the recruitment of an event chair for the 2016 Cal Spirit 30.
