The live and silent auction chair oversees the entire procurement process for the live and silent auction. While all committee members should actively procure items, this chair should choose four to six key people to assist in the acquisition of specific high-value items that have a high probability of selling well. The live and silent auction chair is responsible for locating those items, and/or ensuring that those items are acquired by the core procurement committee. Duties and Responsibilities: Attend Cal Spirit 30 on July 19, 2015, at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. Understand and abide by the American Cancer Society’s policies and gala guidelines. Understand the American Cancer Society’s mission, and work to increase the visibility of the Society and the Cal Spirit 30 event in the community. Provide connections through professional and social contacts to enhance the success of the event. Recruit 10 sub-committee volunteers. Work with other committee chairs and members to ensure procurement of unique and high- value live and silent auction items. Create and help distribute auction and solicitation letters to ensure procurement of auction items. Work with sub-committee members to assist with the preparation of auction packages for the event. Conduct a monthly auction sub-committee meeting with status reports and updates. Coordinate auction details with the event chair and production chair. Attend committee meetings.
