STUDENT ACCOUNTING INTERNSHIP

Report to: Interim Chief Executive Officer and Controller

Position Summary: Aid Atlanta has an exciting learning opportunity available for an Accounting Intern. This is a chance to work within a non-profit organization to gain firsthand knowledge on finance operations that help an organization accomplish its mission. We are seeking someone for this internship who is high-energy, detailed oriented and a self starter with strong inter-personal and communication skills. The main responsibility is to support the CEO and the Finance team in analysis and project management. This position will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and Controller. This is an unpaid Internship

Essential Functions:

  • Work with CEO, Controller, and team on financial analysis and strategic planning for the organization
  • Must be an active student in college or university
  • Analyze expenses in conjunction with the month-end close.
  • Assist with state solicitation filings
  • Work with CEO on Board Reporting and Board Committee meetings
  • Provide administrative support such as scanning and filing documents.
  • Other special projects as needed

Qualifications:

To be considered for this internship, it is required that the intern candidate submit a recent resume with cover letter and phone number for a pre-interview.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite specifically Excel
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be pro-active, self-directed, detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to project manage

Requirements

Applicants should student in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting majors with proficient in Microsoft Office applications with proficiency in Excel. Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills are all essential to this position. This is an unpaid intern position.

The intern must be able to work at least 20 hours per week with a minimum of 200 -240 hours for the complete semester.

Aid Atlanta requires a Memorandum Agreement/Understanding with the student's college or University

The Intern candidate is required to have student health and liability insurance.

Submit a background check prior to Intern orientation.

AID Atlanta, Inc., founded in 1982, began as a grassroots organization with a small group of volunteers who, in response to the national HIV/AIDS epidemic first reported in San Francisco, went into action educating gay men in the Atlanta area about prevention and assisting with accessing medical care. Continuing to fight the epidemic 40 years later, AID Atlanta, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public organization that provides HIV testing, counseling and prevention, and linkage services to high risk HIV negative and HIV Positive individuals living within the Metropolitan Statistical Area of Atlanta, Georgia. The mission of AID Atlanta is to reduce new HIV infections and improve the quality of life of its members and the community by breaking barriers and building community. This mission is accomplished through direct client services, a primary health care clinic and HIV prevention education. This mission is shown through HIV testing and prevention services including outreach to heavily burdened communities and is done in a manner that is meaningful and impactful to the communities being targeted. AID Atlanta is committed to providing any prevention tool to the target population that needs it most. The effort to reduce the risks will be enhanced by offering PrEP, nPEP, STI screenings. By striving to provide a community dialogue about PrEP and STI services, AID Atlanta will increase awareness and decrease misinformation and judgement, resulting in the target population becoming better informed of all prevention tools, including condoms, PrEP, and nPEP.
