About Nahoku 'Ala

Location:

Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower underserved public school students in Hawai'i through quality college preparation.

Description

Nahoku 'Ala is the product of Tom and Cassandra Tokars’ vision of a world where all students achieve their full potential and have access to the best education, regardless of their financial resources. We are delivering the same programs Cassandra has designed and offered for over 16 years as the owner of the highly successful Accelerations Learning Center.

We are currently offering full scholarships for premier SAT preparation classes to students at Roosevelt High School, Waianae High School, and Kamaile Academy in Waianae. Several more schools are waiting for us to secure the resources necessary to scale our operations.

Students with higher SAT scores have better chances for being accepted into selective colleges and being awarded scholarships. Utilizing Cassandra’s experience teaching SAT preparation classes to thousands of students, we are delivering several weekly classes with the goal of boosting our students’ scores by at least 35%, making them college-ready and scholarship-eligible! In addition to dramatic increases in SAT scores, we have seen profound shifts in our students’ attitudes. They are more optimistic and ambitious about their futures.

College is a farfetched dream for many of these public school students. Even graduating high school can be a daunting task. Often, these kids are beaten down emotionally and spiritually. By providing much needed guidance and educational services, we will open doors for bright, deserving public school students and pave a path from poverty to prosperity.
