Do you tweet, hashtag, and post like a pro? WriteGirl is seeking women social media specialists to help us post to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media accounts. We're looking for several volunteers who can attend our events and post to our social media accounts both at our events and on an ongoing basis, several times weekly, promoting our campaigns, books, events and more. We are looking for detail-oriented, creative social media professionals. Required: Work experience in social media and strong writing/photography/writing skills. College degree preferred.

We are certain you will enjoy meeting our network of women writers, and our creative, high-energy events. Bonus: Free food at our events and lots of thank-yous from our staff!

Please note that because our organization is centered around empowering teen girls with creative writing and one-on-one mentoring, all of our volunteers are professional women (over 18 years of age).

Through workshops, mentoring and publishing opportunities, WriteGirl helps teens develop creative writing and communication skills as well as confidence. WriteGirl envisions a world where all teens live, write, and speak boldly as they become inspiring, transformative leaders, driven to effect positive change in their communities

Description

Founded in 2001, WriteGirl is a nationally-recognized creative writing and mentoring organization serving more than 500 teen girls/gender-expansive youth annually, mainly from LA's high-density neighborhoods. Now in its 23rd season, WriteGirl has maintained a 100 percent success rate in helping its seniors not only graduate from high school, but also enroll in college. WriteGirl received national attention in 2021 when WriteGirl alum Amanda Gorman perform ed her poetry at the Biden-Harris Inauguration. WriteGirl also works with boys and co-ed groups under the name "Bold Ink Writers." As a founding member of the Arts for Healing and Justice Network (AHJN), Bold Ink Writers brings creative writing workshops and mentors to youth who are incarcerated or systems-involved.
