Mission Statement
PCA is a non-profit organization designated since 1973 as Philadelphia County's Area Agency on Aging. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for older adults through programs, services, information, research and advocacy.
Description
The Senior Companion Program and RSVP Program sponsored by Philadelphia Corporation for Aging are collaborating on this year's project titled, "Reflecting on the Impact of the Civil Rights Movement". Volunteers will contribute words of reflection and photographs that represent how this time in history has impacted their lives as it relates to the Civil Rights Movements. These powerful words and pictures will be memorialized in a scrapbook and displayed for visitors to review during the 2010 National Day of Service event. As an expression of empowerment, the volunteers will be presenting this work of art to the students at Girard College. The volunteers envision the book being used as an educational tool for students, allowing them to reflect on the past as they shape our future.
