Everyone has talents that can strengthen their community. Connecting these individuals with rewarding volunteer opportunities and keeping them engaged, though, can be a challenge. Volunteers with HandsOn Blue Ridge - a program of the Council of Community Services - are trained in volunteer recruitment and retention. You can take these skills back to the organizations where you donate their own time and talents.
HandsOn Blue Ridge will train Roanoke Valley Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers on effective practices and help you use that knowledge to recruit other volunteers for your community organizations. Research shows that volunteers who are recruited and managed by effective leaders tend to stay with the organization for a longer period of time.
