Become part of our Friendly Caller Program and connect with home-bound seniors by phone on a weekly basis. Your friendly voice will provide an isolated senior with a positive social interaction and reassurance that they are not forgotten. Who knows... you may be forging friendships that wil last for years!
You can serve without a huge time commitment or without ever having to leave home. Each Friendly Caller volunteer is assigned the names of two home-bound seniors and will place a phone call to each of them weekly. The calls can be as little as a couple of minutes or perhaps as much 15-20 minutes once you've gotten to know each other. In some cases, our Friendly Caller may be the only person the senior connects with all day, so this volunteer opportunity is crucial!
Davis County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is for people age 55 or more. Volunteers for this position must pass a background check, which is provided at no charge by Davis County.

Description
Americans 55+ have a lifetime of experience to share and the desire to make a real difference in their world. Members of this mature generation have managed households, been business owners and nurses, farmers and salespeople, artists and executives. Now they are ready to put their unique talents and expertise to work in their communities, and enrich their own lives in the process.
RSVP is the connection to aid volunteers in choosing how and where to serve, time of service, causes to support, and how to get started. RSVP provides pre-service orientation, training from the organization where service is given, supplemental insurance while on duty, and, in some cases, a mileage reimbursement to cover the cost of travel between home and the volunteer site.
When you volunteer, you're not just helping others - you're helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
