Volunteers Needed to Pick Up Floral Donations or Drop off Bouquets to Health Care Facilities

Random Acts of Flowers (RAF) recycles and repurposes flowers by engaging dedicated volunteer teams to deliver beautiful bouquets and moments of kindness to individuals in healthcare facilities across the country.

On Monday and Wednesday mornings donated flowers are picked up from grocery stores, events, and flower wholesalers. In the afternoon, volunteers organize and sort these flowers, composting what is past its prime, and organizing flowers that are still fresh and beautiful. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, volunteers arrange bouquets, which are delivered that afternoon to patients in nearby hospitals or residents living in senior care facilities. Target recipients are those who may not have a support system, may have been in the facility for an extended period of time, may have just received bad news, or just need some encouragement from the community.

Volunteers are needed to pick up floral donations, either in a personal vehicle or RAF van. Donation locations vary by day and include local grocery stores, wholesale florists in the West Loop, or other one-off event places, such as a wedding or funeral home. Volunteers are also needed Tuesday and Thursdays from 12:30-3:30 (varies by location) to help load the van with bouquets and drive them to area hospitals or senior care facilties.
