ORGANIZATION: SOAR 55, Service Opportunities After Reaching 55

Become a family friend mentor and help a newly arrived refugee/immigrant family adapt to a new home, new culture and new life in the United States of America. You can kindly welcome a family into our community by serving as family friend, a guide and an advocate. Your mentoring experience would be involved in different forms such as home visit and going on scheduled appointment or events together. Mentors help refugee/immigrant families become familiar with new systems and community resources and help families learn how to manage with challenges they may encounter. Qualifications: Must be flexible. Individual who is interested in working with refugees/ immigrants families (Russian/English Bilingual preferred and/or Arabic, French and Spanish) Must be culturally sensitive and respectful of various backgrounds, lifestyles and beliefs. Must be willing to communicate with English language learners. Respect client’s privacy and treat family information as confidential and easy-going attitude. High level of communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to details. Follow up and follow though required. Must have a car and a valid driver’s license. References and CORI check required

SOAR 55 is closing as of March 31. The SOAR 55 Nonprofit Management Consultants are exploring opportunites to become its own 501c3 program at this time
