Greetings Press Democrat Team! My name is Stacey Simon, and I work with a non-profit called EF Educational Homestay Program. I work with a wonderful non-profit that is in need of volunteers! EF Educational Homestay Programs is a Summer student exchange program. During a 4 week stint every Summer we invite students from Europe and Asia to not only come to America to improve their English, but to completely immerse themselves in the culture. One of the most important parts of the program is where the help of our wonderful volunteers comes in. We place each and every student with a host family. These families comes from many different walks of life and really need to possess a passion for cultural understanding. Many of our families come back year after year, but of course we are always looking for new families to breathe new life into the program every year. Our program is based in Sonoma County from as far north as Healdsburg and as far south as Petaluma and also stretching out to the city of Sonoma. This year students ages 14-18 from Spain, Italy and Russia and will be coming to the area from June 24th- July 20th, 2015. The commitment: The students need to be dropped off every morning at a bus stop (there is usually one in every city in Sonoma County) around 7:45am. We then ride a school bus in to school at Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa with them. They attend English classes from 8am to noon and from there we take them on an activity that both helps them improve their english and exposes them to our SF Bay Area culture! From there we get back on the school bus and they arrive back at the bus stop from the morning at around 5pm. From there, they spend the evening with their host family and the next day we do it all over again! Please let me know if this is something that you can help us out wtih. We are always in need and are always looking for great individuals. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you.
