Girl Scouts Highest Awards Committee Volunteer Opportunity

If you want to volunteer with the Girls Scouts but do not have the time to volunteer as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, then consider volunteering on our Highest Awards Committee. This committee meets once a month to interview the Gold Award projects of Girl Scout in 9 th -12 th grade. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor in Girl Scouts and our girls are required to interview in front of the committee for their proposal and final interviews. Training is required to be a part of the Highest Awards Committee. The next training date will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 10:00am-4:00pm at the North Charleston Girl Scout office (7951 Dorchester Rd. North Charleston, SC 29418). Description

Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5-17 regardless of race, creed, nationality or socio-economic status. There are six Girl Scouting age levels:

  • Daisy Girl Scouts - Kindergarten 5 - grade 1
  • Brownie Girl Scouts - grades 2-3
  • Junior Girl Scouts - grades 4-5
  • Cadette Girl Scouts - grades 6-8
  • Senior Girl Scouts - grades 9-10
  • Ambassador Girl Scouts - grades 11-12
  • Girls may participate in Girl Scout troops which meet on a regular basis weeknights or weekends.
  • Girls may participate in the Girl Scout program by meeting on a short- term basis with other girls with similar interests or by attending camps and special events.
  • A girl may participate as an individual without being affiliated with a troop or group.
