History Center Education Internship

ORGANIZATION: Volunteer Polk

Do you have an interest for history and education? Do you need more experience for a future career in history education? This internship is being offered by the Polk County History Center. Interns will work closely with the Curator of Education and Programs to help with the museum's collection management, inventory, tours, programs, exhibits, and special events. Internships are geared towards those at eh graduate school level or higher, however consideration will be given to current undergraduates demonstrating advanced skill level. Daily activities include but are not limited to:

  • Greet visitors and provide excellent guest service
  • Learn and conduct scripted tours
  • Develop and implement arts and history family programs
  • Assist with program development and implementation
  • Assist with grant writing and grant administration duties
  • Assist in set up and break down for programs and activities
  • Administration assistance on volunteer schedule and hourly reporting
  • Assist in volunteer training
  • Other duties will be assigned depending on the intern’s interests and skills

Internships last for at least 10 weeks (Flexibility with start and end dates and extensions can be made in order for students to gain necessary experience).
