Be a Greeter at TAP's Tax Clinic. Volunteer responsibilities include:

• Welcome customers to the tax site;
• Confirm taxpayer has an appointment and provide intake paperwork for taxpayer to complete;
• Verify customer has all necessary documents when arriving for drop-off or pick up appointment;
• Maintain flow of customers in lobby between paperwork and directing them to a Certified Tax Preparer (You cannot answer any IRS related tax questions; however, you are able to answer any TAP intake questions);
• After verifying eligibility for services-assist walk ins with scheduling appointment;

Help make a huge impact in the community while networking, building your resume and having fun! Volunteer to help low-income working families file their taxes. TAP urgently needs students and adult volunteers for our 22nd annual free tax clinic. The tax clinic operates mid-January through April 15 every year.

The goal of the Tax Clinic is to help taxpayers with income less than $65,000 access the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) as a tool for upward mobility. The Tax Clinic provides free income tax preparation, in partnership with the IRS, for those who qualify. This program is one of the most popular at TAP, helping over 1,000 people each year.

* No experience required
* Various volunteer roles available (some do not include tax preparation)
* Free online training beginning December 15, 2023 (self-study)
* Just six hours per week for ten weeks has a huge impact!
