Description: Louisville Grows seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with social media, marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a well-known community based nonprofit organization.
Responsibilities:
• Update and maintain Louisville Grows’ social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram updates
• Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter
• Assist in drafting, distributing and pitching news releases, media alerts and other stories
• Design flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for events hosted by Louisville Grows
• Update the Louisville Grows website as needed
• Attend bi-monthly communications/marketing committee meeting to provide marketing updates to the board of directors and to take minutes
• Reach out to community organizations, city officials, general public and donors with consistent messaging about Louisville Grows’ mission
• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
Qualifications:
• Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
• Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
• Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus
• An effective communicator, both written and oral
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
• Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• Enthusiasm for the mission of Habitat for Humanity and the families we serve
Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 - 6 month commitment.
Hours: 8 - 12 hours/week, including weekly meetings with the Executive and/or Assistant Directors.
Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship. Louisville Grows will work with your university as needed to facilitate class credit.

Description
We seek to be a leading nonprofit in advocating for health equity through the environmental platforms of urban forestry and urban agriculture. Louisville Grows’ neighborhood-based urban forestry program focuses on rebuilding the urban tree canopy with a goal of planting 1000 trees each year.
Our Urban Agriculture program is designed to build capacity in community gardens by providing technical assistance, education and infrastructure. Healthy House programs, workshops and classes center on healthy living, healthy eating, environmental education or environmental equity. We are dedicated to restoring the urban tree canopy and providing environmental education opportunities that will lead to ending health disparities in our community.
