The Friends of the Livermore Public Library, a 501(c)(3) organization, seeks a volunteer Treasurer. Duties include those normally associated with the position, plus service as an officer and member of the board of Directors of the Friends. Meetings are held bimonthly at the Livermore Public Library. As an officer of the Friends, the Treasurer helps the Livermore Public Library fulfill its quest for improving services to the citizens of Livermore. The Treasurer should use his/her knowledge of the finances not only to support the efforts of the Board, but also to suggest new approaches and directions for the Board to follow.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares and presents necessary reports of income, expense, and cash balances to the Board at each regular meeting by overseeing bookstore activity, monthly sales, on line sales, and sales at 3 satellite bookstores.
2. File the appropriate reports to the federal and state governments in a timely manner.
3. Serve as a responsible member of the Executive Committee of the Friends with the other Board Officers to set agendas for Board meetings and to address pertinent issues between regular Board meetings.
SKILLS
- General knowledge of bookkeeping procedures
- Experience with Quickbooks, since current financial records are maintained on Quickbooks
TIME COMMITMENT
Treasurer is an elective office with a two-year term. Treasurers may only serve two consecutive terms. Approximately 5 to 10 hours per week will be spent on Treasurer duties. Work can be done at home in the evenings or the weekends if desired. Executive and Board meetings at the library will add an additional two hours of work each on a bimonthly basis.
