Crave adventure? Looking for a way to give back? Keep LA Waters Safe from Pollution!

LA Waterkeeper’s Storm Water Assessment Team (SWAT) gives volunteers the opportunity to survey and track the pollution that spills into our waterways, flows to our beaches, kills aquatic life, and threatens public health.

Every time it rains, stormwater runoff transports harmful pollutants from industrial areas through the storm drain system to our waterways, beaches and ocean. SWAT volunteers are an elite team of volunteers that work on-call tirelessly to help us stop industrial facilities from putting harmful pollutants like copper, lead, mercury, oil and grease in our rivers and bays. Volunteers conduct investigative stormwater monitoring and collect samples to directly support our litigation and advocacy work. The data gathered helps identify pollution sources and drives enforcement of environmental regulations and policies that help to protect L.A.’s waterways into the future! Volunteers learn firsthand the impacts of urban runoff, and help to educate others.

SWAT provides a unique way for concerned citizens, students, and adventuresome environmentalists to get involved. Volunteers must be 18 years and up. LA Waterkeeper provides all of the necessary training and tools- great for your resume, CV, or to build community connections!
