Volunteers are needed to support K-8 grade students during the various activites that take place during summer camp programming hours.
During a typical summer camp day students participate in games, arts & crafts, science, literacy & math activities, and project based learning lessons. This year's PBL theme is "Explore Philly". Volunteers will assist the EducationWorks staff facilitate these activities with our students.
If volunteers have special skills or interests (arts, knitting, gardening, cooking, etc.) that they would be interested in sharing with students, there is opportunity for that as well.
**We have 15 summer camp sites throughout Philadelphia. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Candace Eaton (ceaton@educationworks.org) for a list of schools/addresses**

Description
EducationWorks is a not-for-profit organization that provides comprehensive support for economically disadvantaged communities in Philadelphia, Chester, PA and Trenton, NJ. Our goal is to provide educational programs and services that enrich the lives of children, youth and families confronting high rates of poverty and other barriers to educational achievement. By tackling core issues like literacy, graduation rates, safety and social awareness we are equipping individuals with the tools they need to stay safe, finish school, make better choices and become more productive members of their communities.
We recognize that each child, school or community has unique needs. That's why we work directly with community and school leaders to uncover current and emerging needs and create customized programs that will have the greatest impact. From in-school programs to after-school and summer programs and beyond, we work with children as young as 6 weeks all the way through to adulthood.
