The VISTA member will assist with capacity-building activities related to: 1) Marketing (i.e. building relationships with local media, assisting with initiation of social media activities, etc.); 2) Volunteer Recruitment (i.e. establishing relationships with local businesses, schools, universities, etc. whose members may be interested in volunteering); 3) Fundraising (i.e. writing grants to local foundations, identifying and approaching untapped businesses for solicitation of sponsorship, developing special events, etc.); and 4) Building Community Partnerships.
The VISTA position is considered full-time (35-40 hours/week).The VISTA is considered a federal volunteer rather than an employee of BBBS. They will not receive a salary or hourly wage, but they will receive a living allowance of $973/month, health coverage, relocation allowance (if moving here from another community), childcare assistance (if eligible), and training. At the completion of their year of service, they can choose from a $1,500 cash stipend or a $5,500 education award.

Description
Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters is a youth-mentoring organization that serves children facing adversity by providing them with a caring adult mentor. Mentors are carefully-screened adult volunteers who commit to being matched with a child in a one-to-one relationship for a minimum of a year.
