The CU One-to-One Mentoring Program is a school-based mentoring program and has been active in Champaign-Urbana School Districts for over 20 years. We match adult mentors with students grades 3 and up. Mentors meet with their mentee for 1 hour per week, during the lunch period, and play games, work on crafts, talk and just have fun! There is a wait list at every school in the district of youth requesting mentors--youth that need a positive, stable adult in their life that can help provide direction and friendship. Mentors may choose which school district (Champaign or Urbana) and grade level they would like to mentor. This program is very flexible but does require at least a 1-year commitment, with the hope the mentor will continue with the student until High School graduation.
Please go to our website for additional information: www.cu1to1.org
Mentor applications are now being accepted for the 2017/18 School Year. Training sessions will take place this fall and will be announced in August.
Mentors will be matched with students within 2 weeks of attending the training. Please contact me to see if this unique volunteer opportunity is the right one for you!
