This Leap Year, help local seniors living in the Burke, City of Fairfax, and central Fairfax county with transportation to medical appointments and shopping needs. The Shepherd's Center of Fairfax-Burke is located at 4019 Olley Lane, Fairfax, VA. We also have a new branch office located at 8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA serving local seniors in that area of Fairfax County with rides to medical appointments. This vital life-saving service is rewarding to our volunteer drivers since you meet such interesting people who are also extremely appreciative of your volunteering. Our transportation services are free. Your time driving is totally your choice. We suggest 1 drive per month, though more is great if your time permits. Our seniors are asked to make their appointments on M - F between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM to avoid peak traffic. Your volunteering involves picking up the senior at their residence and returning them safely to their homes when the appointment is finished. Our shopping assistance is providing transportation on specific days of the week for seniors from their homes and going to grocery stores or other retail locations. If this seems like something you would enjoy doing, please contact the volunteer recruiter at 703 715-7592 or email: scfbvolrecruiter@aol.com.
