We are seeking a volunteer to help maintain our contact databases. The National Housing Institute is a small, nonprofit progressive research and communications organization that looks at affordable housing, community organizing and community development in low-income communities. We publish reports, hold meetings, run a number of websites, and publish a quarterly magazine, Shelterforce. In addition to Shelterforce, we also send out a weekly e-newsletter.

Each week we get many bounced emails that are starting to pile up. Our volunteer will sort through our Constant Contact email bounces to correct typos and fix outdated contact information. The volunteer may also update other contact databases for us, such as Salesforce. This is an on-site volunteer opportunity, so the volunteer will work in our office in Montclair, NJ. The office is open M-F 9-5 and volunteer hours will be part-time and flexible.

Mission Statement

The National Housing Institute (NHI), founded in 1975, is an independent nonprofit research and communications organization dedicated to fostering decent, affordable housing and a vibrant community for everyone.

Description

The National Housing Institute (NHI), founded in 1975, is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering decent, affordable housing and a vibrant community for everyone. Through our magazine, Shelterforce, websites, research, and advocacy, NHI focuses attention and encourages action on progressive, high-impact housing and community-development policies and practices.

NHI has conducted original research on such topics as shared-equity homeownership, managing neighborhood change, saving subsidized housing, homelessness prevention, and creating jobs as a component of affordable-housing construction. Operating at the intersection of theory, practice, and policy, NHI examines how these and other factors affect people as they build safe, viable neighborhoods.
