Every year, Blackstone Valley Community Action Program (BVCAP) hosts the VITA- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, (IRS). The program provides courtesy tax return preparation assistance to Blackstone Valley residents who cannot afford professional tax help, such as seniors, disabled, low-income and non-English speaking people.
BVCAP is seeking volunteers interested in learning more about taxes and who want to help out in the community. This is a good way to help individuals in need or adding community service to your resume. Interested volunteers will be provided with free tax law training through IRS Link and Learn program. All materials needed to prepare basic individual income tax returns will be provided. Volunteers are asked to contribute an average of 3 to 4 hours per week from mid January through April 15.
For more information call Valerie at 401-475-5012.
