ORGANIZATION: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Oregon SW Washington Idaho Montana Chapter

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is seeking a qualified intern to establish and coordinate a volunteer recruitment and management program. LLS is dedicated to finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients. This role will focus on working with staff to assess where volunteers are needed; develop recruitment strategies, screening procedures, and orientation programs; create a volunteer database and tracking system; and, participate in defining the overall vision for the volunteer program.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify volunteer roles and projects through needs assessment and ongoing communication with LLS staff
  • Create and implement volunteer recruitment strategies including building external relationships with outside community groups and organizations
  • Work with LLS to develop volunteer screening tools
  • Develop and implement orientation tools and programs
  • Identify strategies for volunteer retention

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to build relationships and work with volunteers, staff, and community members
  • Ability to identify needs and implement strategies to meet those needs
  • Attention to detail and priorities
  • Prior volunteer experience a plus

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and phone skills
  • Interest in learning about the non-profit sector
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Ability to solve problems and think strategically
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook
