The Aunt Mary's Storybook project brings into the Cook County Jail a selection of brand new books, along with audio recorders. They assist participating detainees in choosing an age-appropriate book for each of their children. Each of the participants are then given an opportunity to record him or herself reading the books for their children. On behalf of the incarcerated mother or father, our organization then sends the books and CDs to the children.
We are looking for several people to go with us in to the Cook County Jail, Division 6, once a month to help incarcerated fathers choose books for their child(ren) and to assist with the recording sessions. Our sessions are scheduled for the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Please contact us if you are interested.
