Scout Day Leader Volunteer Opportunity Featured Summary: Volunteers needed to lead scouts in a wildlife related lesson, activity and nature walk at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge! Opportunity Description: Scout Day is from 12-3 on February 7th. The program is targeted at Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts to help them fulfill the requirements of wildlife-related badges. Volunteer station leaders facilitate activities and a nature hike for a group of scouts. All lesson plans, supplies and training provided. Previous experience in scouting preferred but not necessary. Time Commitment: Scout day is usually the first Saturday of each month from October through May. It is nice to have the same person help with every Scout Day but taking turns or only doing it a few times is also a possibility we are flexible. Also it is an option to just shadow the other Scout Day Leaders your first time to see if it is something you want to do. Description
Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, founded by President Theodore Roosevelt on February 25, 1909, is one of the oldest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS).
Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the System preserves a network of lands and waters set aside for the conservation and management of the nation's fish, wildlife, and plant resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
