Inkster Family Literacy Movement: IFLM is a place-based, social change strategy designed to enhance the literacy skills of the entire community, starting with its young and most vulnerable population - its children. IFLM is led by a coalition of community partners that works toward a common vision: to ensure Inkster is a place where all families thrive to have access to the supports, services, and opportunities children need for literacy and school success
Location: Around the Inkster community.
Commitment: Volunteers can commit to differently monthly events. We will accept hours for school credit.
Group Size: up to 10 for Reading Rallys, Literacy Nights, and Book Distributions.
Requirements: Volunteers must complete volunteer application and commit to specific events.
Volunteer duties: Help pass out books and promote literacy in Inkster.

Description
At Starfish Family Services, our goal is to invest in children and their families through our early childhood programs, continue that investment through our school-aged and adolescent programs and strengthen the family environment through our adult programs. Our intervention programs, which provide respite care, mental health counseling, and crisis management, are used with those families, where necessary, to protect the investment that is being made in their children. The overall goal is to create a nurturing, successful family environment where children have the skills later in life to become good parents and successful members of their communities.
