ORGANIZATION: Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity

Unique opportunity for a Master level student to gain direct experience in a million dollar fundraising campaign at Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity - Holland, MI location. Activities would include coordination of meetings and events, executive level correspondence and administrative functions. Looking for a motivated, creative and professional self-starter. Must be proficient in computer use and comfortable with internet applications including email, internet navigation, and online research. Projection coordination experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with campaign activities including business & donor prospecting and research
  2. Help with coordination of campaign meetings and events
  3. Prepare and organize mailings, solicitations, reports and thank-you letters
  4. Assist with donor/prospect data entry, database maintenance and donor communications.
  5. Assist in creating campaign material (billboards and presentations as needed)
  6. Extensive use of software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Creative Suite (as able)
  7. Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience:


1. Experience in office setting strongly preferred
2. Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively on a computer.
3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.

4. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
5. Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of LHFH.

Required Education:


Those in their senior year pursuing a bachelor’s degree will be considered.

Prefer major in business, communications, advertising, public relations, nonprofit administration, or similar.

Compensation:


Unpaid but will reimburse for mileage for any travel. Internship can be done for college credit. Please see college professor for class approval.

Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity is a partnership, house building, homeownership Christian ministry in the greater Holland area. It is based on the principle that all God's people deserve a decent place to live and that our community is a better place when that occurs.

We serve families in western Michigan north to M-45, east to Hudsonville, south to the city of Allegan, and west to the shores of Lake Michigan.

  • We have been affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International since November 1990.
  • We will have served 117 families, building and restoring 117 homes by the end of 2011, bettering the lives of hundreds of children in the area.
  • It takes over 2,000 volunteer hours to build a house.
  • There are over 80 ways that volunteers may serve Lakeshore Habitat.
