Description:
Are you Spanish Speaking, and interested in inspiring and educating children on the value of healthy eating habits?
We are seeking volunteers with a Spanish Language background for the American Heart Association Teaching Gardens program to assist with translating materials for our parent nutrition workshops. Volunteers would translate materials including recipes, vegetable gardening, and nutrition information. Volunteers will have the opportunity to collaborate with AHA staff, and make a difference to reaching Spanish-speaking community members interested in nutrition education.
Volunteers preferable have a passion for nutrition education and cooking/ gardening classes, and are able to work independently. Volunteers must be comfortable using Microsoft Word, and fluent in Spanish speaking and writing.
About the program: Teaching Gardens is a school garden and nutrition program. Students learn how to plant seeds, nurture the growing plants, harvest the food, and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits, good nutritional choices and the importance of physical activity.
