2006 Woodinville Sammamish ReLeaf Planting & Restoration

Description

Help make the Sammamish River and Trail a better place for fish, wildlife, birds and people! The City of Woodinville invites individuals, families, small & large groups to join our continuing (and year-round) efforts to restore native habitat along the Sammamish River.

At Sammamish ReLeaf volunteers will: 1) assist in removing non-native vegetation (primarily blackberry, thistles and Scot's broom), thereby improving the growing conditions for native species, 2) mulch cleared areas, and 3) plant a limited number of new natives to achieve greater plant diversity. Just prior to beginning, volunteers will receive a brief plant tutorial and site history. The City provides all tools, extra work gloves, bottled water and snacks.

The project site is located along the Sammamish Trail, where NE 145th Street passes over the Trail. Many are familiar with this site as the Northshore Athletic League parking lot. Use this lot to park, and look for the Volunteer tent at the southeast corner of the lot. School hours requirement and court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted.

This year's event is held in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. Join us on Saturday, September 30!
