Teen Volunteer Program at Delray Beach Public Library
Teen Volunteer service at the Delray Beach Public Library is for those ages 13-17 and geared towards creating a community of teens that have a positive impact on the library services for teens and young adults. We are looking for teens that see creating a long term partnership with the library as a positive element in their lives. We hope that our teens today will become strong library activists and supporters in the future.
Community service teaches the skills of civil participation and develops an ethic of service and civic responsibility. Community Service is defined as: The process of learning and developing as a productive member of society through active participation in service that meets the needs of our community.
Applicants must be 13-17 years old, have a current Teen Volunteer Application signed by the member and a parent or guardian.

Description
The Ladies Improvement Association founded the Delray Beach Public Library in 1913. In 1938 the Delray Beach Public Library Association became a not-for-profit corporation to provide a public library in Delray Beach. Since 1950, our patrons have received library service through a successful public/private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a large percentage of the annual operating budget and the Library Association has raised capital funds.
Delray Beach Public Library exists to enrich the lives of the individuals of Delray Beach’s diverse communities by creating and sustaining superior public library services through responsive staff, dynamic collections, appropriate technology and access to global information.
