We are in need of a financial professional to assume the role of treasurer on our friendly and active governing board for a two year term. The board meets six times a year at times and locations that are amenable to all board members. We try to use our time wisely and efficiently.
The treasurer will review the work of our bookkeeper and make a report to the board, vote on any items before the board, and occasionally perform additional volunteer activities as you are able.
The treasurer should be a certified accountant, or hold other equivalent certification and training. Some knowledge of tax codes would be useful.

Description
Guided by the Shared Science mission and core principles:
We believe every child should be afforded opportunities to explore their interest in engineering, science, technology and mathematics. We are determined to identify and deliver curricular programs that not only meet or exceed local and state academic standards, but engage students and teachers creatively, constructively, and playfully. We believe the community is our classroom, including teachers, parents, and students.
We serve the Greater Long Beach metropolitan area. As a nonprofit, we bring together funding and equipment resources, identify gifted engineers and instructors, tailor the best curriculum available, and then bundle it all together to benefit and captivate the imaginations of young students. The majority of our programs take place after school and during summer vacation. We constantly strive to bring our brand of learning fun to more students at more sites, regardless of financial circumstances.
