Common Threads is holding its first-ever Cooking for Life Festival on April 18-19, 2015. This large-scale, two-day event will feature a select group of the country’s celebrity chefs coming together to support our mission of empowering children and families to cook for life. Common Threads will need volunteers willing to help with all aspects of event planning and execution. FESTIVAL EVENTS: All Day Culinary Boot Camp Saturday April 18th, FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management 3000 N.E. 151st Street, North Miami, FL 33181 Tasks will include (but are not limited to): guest check-in, directional, set-up and clean-up of each kitchen classroom and chef support and signage set-up and breakdown. Sunday Brunch Sunday April 19th, Thompson Hotel Miami Beach 4041 Collins Ave., Miami, FL 33140 Tasks will include (but are not limited to): guest check-in, set-up, guest assistance, auction assistance and signage set-up and breakdown Event volunteers work under the direction of the Volunteer Committee Chair and support the other event committee heads, Common Threads staff or other volunteers, who will provide task-specific training.

Common Threads is a national nonprofit that provides children and families cooking and nutrition education to encourage healthy habits that contribute to wellness. We equip under-resourced communities with information to make affordable, nutritious and appealing food choices wherever they live, work, learn, and play. We know that food is rooted in culture and tradition so we promote diversity in our lessons and recipes, encouraging our participants to celebrate the world around them.

Common Threads was established in Chicago in 2003 and has now grown to a national nonprofit that teaches children, parents and educators about cooking and nutrition education.
