The Aunt Mary's Storybook project brings into the DuPage County Jail a selection of brand new books, along with audio recorders. They assist participating detainees in choosing an age-appropriate book for each of their children. Each of the participants are then given an opportunity to record him or herself reading the books for their children. On behalf of the incarcerated mother or father, our organization then sends the books and recordings to the children.
We are looking for one person to join our group to go with us in to the DuPage County Jail once a month to help incarcerated persons choose their books and to assist with the recording sessions. We are looking for a volunteer able to commit to the following session each month: The First Sunday of each month from 1:30 PM to 4 PM.
Background check, fingerprinting, and on-site security training/orientation conducted by the DuPage County Jail will be required.
Please contact us if you are interested.
