Mentorin 4 Kids

Since 1998, the AJFCS Judith & Jack RosenbergMentoring 4 Kids programhas helped dozens of families who have experienced loss of a loved one. M4K works to achieve a healthy future for children ages 6 -14 who are being raised in single-parent families. This free, non-sectarian program, pairs children with same gender adult volunteer mentors who provide unconditional friendship and support. The mentor and your child will participate in mutually enjoyable activities a few hours a month as they build a lifelong friendship.

Before any match is made, both the potential volunteer and the child and his/her family are thoroughly screened. Following the match, training and ongoing support are provided

Mission Statement

Build a one-on-one relationship with a child in need while having fun a few hours each month. Mentoring 4 Kids, a free program serving all faiths, matches caring adults over 25 with children being raised by a single parent.

Description

Mentoring 4 Kids at Alpert Jewish Family & Children's Service is a free service for children ages six-14 that are being raised in a single parent or guardian home. We serve people of all faiths, matching caring adult volunteers with children needing a positive role model in their lives. Most of our children have lost a caregiver through death or divorce. By providing caring adult "pals" of the same gender with similar interests, we hope to provide another positive role model for the child. The volunteer mentor and child build a one-on-one relationship while participating in fun activities for several hours at least twice a month. There is a minimum one year commitment to the program. Before any match is made, both the potential volunteer and the child and his/her family are thoroughly screened. Following the match, training and ongoing support are provided
