The MLMC seeks volunteers for its annual fundraiser. This multicultural event, in its 10 th year, and scheduled for March 2015 includes a live and silent auction, entertainment, and more.

We are seeking volunteers both to lead and serve on committees and to engage in one-off commitments.

Skills we seek in volunteers are:

  • respect and interest in diverse populations and cultures;
  • experience with auctions and/or fundraising events;
  • strong communication, both oral and in writing;
    • comfortable and professional on the telephone;
    • greeting people in person;
    • email;
    • attentive to details;
    • database management;
  • reliability;
  • creative thinking.

Description

Portland Public Schools' Multilingual & Multicultural Center provides support for multilingual students and families through registration assistance for new students, language access for families who need translation and interpretation services, parent orientation sessions for new arrivals to the United States, parent workshop sessions, Parent University, and Make It Happen! - a college readiness program for multilingual students.
