Children's Home & Aid offers over 50 parent support groups each year. Parents Care & Share groups provide a safe place for parents to talk about their parenting challenges and find support and education. The groups have companion children's programs that provide fun activities for children of participants while they are in group, and a meal for both parents and children. A support group, a children's program, a nutritious meal: All this for free!

Parents Care & Share in Joliet is looking for volunteers to assist in facilitating local group meetings. This group is working with young/teen parents. Facilitators would:

- Facilitate group process

-Develop meaningful parent leadership

-Provide support and encouragement to parent leader and group members

-Provide crisis intervention during meetings

-Provide referral information about otehr community resources (working closely with the regional coordinator)

-Act as a liason for group participants and community resources as needed.

Meetings are Mondays from 6:00PM to 7:30PM weekly. Must be willing to volunteer approximately 3-4 hours per week.

This volunteer position requires a finger print background check, a Bachelors Degree (social work, psychology, counseling, education, preferred), and experience with teens is a plus.

Excellent opportunity for Masters Level students.
