Mission Statement
The Malini Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to inspiring girls and investing in women in Sri Lanka and around the world to help them unleash their potential and transform their lives through quality education, empowerment and self-sufficiency.
Through our home for orphaned girls in Sri Lanka we are dedicated to providing a safe, healthy and sustainable living environment for girls who have no other options for care. With a focus on a holistic education, we are committed to creating a family-oriented home that promotes tolerance and successfully transitions girls into empowered women and contributing members of society.
Our artisan merchandising initiatives foster livelihood opportunities for women who have gone through extraordinarily traumatic lives helping them to deliver themselves out of poverty.
Our core values are embodied in four pillars that are tightly aligned with the UN’s Millennium Development Goals for reducing poverty, improving access to education and promoting gender equality and environmental sustainability:
- Empowerment Through Education, Healing through Creativity
- Enriching Service Opportunities for College Students, Career Professionals and Families
- Self-Sufficiency and Sustainability through Social Entrepreneurship and Artisan Programs
- Fostering Cultural Acceptance through Community Outreach Programs
Description
The Malini Foundation functions on a partnership model, which means that we have developed strategic relationships with corporations and other non-profit organizations and universities to maintain a significantly low overhead. Our goal is that 100% of all contributions go towards the on-the-ground operations of the children’s home.
