The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is looking for volunteers to assist during the upcoming tax season. Volunteers are needed to prepare and electronically file federal and state tax returns for low-to-moderate income households in 2015.
Last Year, VITA operated 12 locations in Davis and Morgan Counties and filed 1,385 returns, claiming $2.1 million in refunds - all at no charge to taxpayers. No prior experience is required.
Training will occur on two Saturdays in January. Volunteers are asked to commit to one 3-hour shift per week from January 26th to April 15th. This year's locations will be in:
Bountiful (Tues & Wed evenings)
Clearfield (Tues late afternoons & Wed evenings two Sats 10-1)
Kaysville (Wed & Thurs evenings)
Layton (two Tues evenings and two Thurs evenings per month Sats 10-2
No. Salt Lake City (Thurs evenings)
Syracuse (Mon evenings)
Davis County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is for people age 55 or more. Benefits of volunteering through RSVP include:

Americans 55+ have a lifetime of experience to share and the desire to make a real difference in their world. Members of this mature generation have managed households, been business owners and nurses, farmers and salespeople, artists and executives. Now they are ready to put their unique talents and expertise to work in their communities, and enrich their own lives in the process.
RSVP is the connection to aid volunteers in choosing how and where to serve, time of service, causes to support, and how to get started. RSVP provides pre-service orientation, training from the organization where service is given, supplemental insurance while on duty, and, in some cases, a mileage reimbursement to cover the cost of travel between home and the volunteer site.
When you volunteer, you're not just helping others - you're helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
