PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Safely pick up and deliver blood to the Red Cross and/or hospitals in a timely manner. Every unit of blood you transport can help save up to 3 lives! We Need Your Help To: -Pick-up or deliver life saving blood products in a timely way. -Maintain a courteous and positive rapport with co-workers and/or hospital staff. -Accurately complete and submit paperwork/expense vouchers by the due date. -Contact your supervisor in case of an emergency or delay of pick up and/or delivery. Skills, Experience and/or Knowledge You Must Have: -Excellent driving skills with a good driving record for the past 3 years. -Customer service skills to interact with hospital and blood drive personnel. -Ability to read and follow road maps, as well as written and verbal directions. Physical/Mental Demands: -Provide vehicle for pick-ups and deliveries (mileage reimbursement offered). Vehicle must fit up to 6 boxes - 18 inches cubed; uncovered open bed pickups or motor cycles may not be used. -Maintain a valid driver's license & the state's minimum car insurance; and be at least 21 years of age. -Walk, negotiate stairs and get in and out of a motor vehicle. -Have a working cell phone in the car while volunteering, strongly preferred. -Report moving violations to the Safety Officer. -Follow the policies of the American Red Cross Volunteer Handbook, American Red Cross Volunteer Staff Courier Packet and your state's Driver's Manual and your driver's license restrictions.
