St. Croix Hospice is looking for kind, compassionate, and reliable individuals who are willing to spend at least an hour per week with a hospice patient. We match you with people who live near your home or work. The role of a companion pet therapy (dog) volunteer is to provide 1:1 interaction and friendship. You may simply sit, talk and share antics/fun times about your dog and family. The idea is to learn from others, listen to stories and help provide joy and comfort. We accept dogs who have been certified by Therapy Dogs International, Therapy Dogs Incorporated, Pet Partners or other similar organizations. Storytelling and scenario training is provided; visiting schedules are flexible. Not certified for pet therapy? No problem, St. Croix Hospice would like to help you connect to people in the community who will help get you started and mentor you along the way. Description
Originally founded in Minnesota, St. Croix Hospice is named after the St. Croix River. Symbols of change, rivers are restless, sometimes moving swiftly and other times peaceful and nearly still. Like life, rivers are not always easy to navigate, and it’s good to have a guide to help you through the difficult parts. We are here to guide your end-of-life journey with care and compassion.
Our clinical staff are professional, compassionate and award-winning. Our care team includes healthcare experts who believe in the power of hospice care to increase quality of life for all people approaching their final days.
