Every Wednesday during the growing season, volunteers are needed to help tend several varieties of crops, including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, persimmons and Asian pears. All of the fruit grown and harvested at City Orchard will be distributed to DC residents in need through Bread for the City’s two food pantry locations. Additionally, Bread for the City can provide transportation and train volunteers on-stite. All experience and skill levels are welcome!

Number of Volunteers Needed: All are welcome, including individuals and groups of up 15

We are currently seeking volunteers to help from approximately 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM (specific times can be flexible) on the following dates

Description

Bread for the City offers food and clothing, social services, legal counsel, and medical care at no cost to eligible clients. Anyone living in the District of Columbia who meets income guidelines and other program requirements (such as lack of health insurance) may be eligible for help at Bread for the City.
