Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Boulder County Parks and Open Space

  • 5 people are interested

Make a New Year’s Resolution to give back to your community while enjoying time in the beautiful parks of Boulder County.

Volunteers are welcome to hike, bike, run or ride a horse on some of Boulder County’s most scenic trails while providing park visitors with information about recreational opportunities, facilities, local resources, and regulations. Volunteers will also be trained to lead and assist staff with special assignments such as work projects, visitor studies, community outreach and education, and emergency operations.

In preparation for your duties, volunteers attend 5 monthly academy trainings. Training topics include park patrol, emergency operations, forest ecology and fire management, principles of education and outreach, multiple-use trail issues, and more.

This year’s monthly trainings take place January 10, then the first Saturday of each month from February until May. In addition, volunteers are required to patrol at least 24 hours in a calendar year and participate in a minimum of 3 special assignments.

If you would like to be a part of an important volunteer corps that is making a difference in Boulder County this program is for you.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. The application deadline is December 1, 2014.

For more information and an application, go to www.BoulderCountyOpenSpace.org/volunteer or contact Michelle Bowie at mbowie@bouldercounty.org or 303-678-6219.
