CIM is looking for a volunteer to work with us in our office in Sanski Most, for a period of 6 months-1 year to help develop the organisation develop plans to become a self-sustainable social enterprise. CIM’s vision for the next 5 years is to become a self-sustaining social enterprise. This vision consists of building a community centre with income generation ventures which will provide funds to continue our work and to slowly become independent of external funds.
We are looking for a long term volunteer to help us develop plans for the Peace Embassy, a social enterprise which will double as a community centre and business.

Key responsibilities:
- To design a business proposal for the Peace Embassy based on CIM’s vision and existent plans.
- To research potential for growth, risks, and challenges
- To establish partnerships
- To undertake marketing and promotional activities
- Social Media promotion
- To initiate a crowdfunding campaign
- Other general administrative tasks
- Propose and develop new ideas

Specific Skills required:

- we need someone who can work independently and in a team of volunteers with minimal supervision. You will get support from the centre directors and have the opportunity to have regular progress meetings, and direction. You will however be responsible for organising your tasks.
- we do not ask for expert volunteers in the field, but to be open to learning as much as possible and to always have the incentive to improve their work. In order to be able to work in a small town in Bosnia we have found it is essential for people to be able to adapt to new environments, and to have had experiences of living abroad. Things go slower in Bosnia, a lot of work gets done over coffee, and not to mention, there is a new culture and new language to adapt to.
- able to identify solutions to problems and to find innovative ways to deal with potential challenges.
-knowledge of crowdfunding platforms and strategies
-good marketing and promotion skills
-knowledge of writing business proposals and of developing social enterprises

We encourage volunteers to meet the locals and our volunteers, and to travel around Bosnia and throughout the Balkans. We have a flexible work environment, and want our volunteers to be able to learn as much as possible whilst working with us. In the local area there is the opportunity to join a folk dancing group, to participate in our interreligious choir, to go hiking/skying/cyclying/ paragliding/swimming/kayaking/ rafting and more. We can also facilitate Bosnian language classes for those who wish to learn it. Sanski Most is a small town in North-Western Bosnia, with a population of around 25-30 000 people. The nearest cities are Prijedor and Banja Luka, and Zagreb is 2.5 hours away by car.

Please send a CV and motivation letter to ade.stuparu@gmail.com with the subject 'volunteering in CIM'. We will then follow-up on this to arrange a skype interview.

About GlobalGiving

Location:

Mission Statement

Build an efficient, open, thriving marketplace that connects people who have community and world-changing ideas with people who can support them.

Description

GlobalGiving was founded by two former World Bank executives who decided to use the Internet to create a highly efficient marketplace. The GlobalGiving platform enables more funding to reach projects throughout the globe, and, at the same time, provides a more transparent, engaging way for donors to give.
Because we enable donors to give directly to projects, they know exactly where their money is going. Donors can see progress updates on most projects as funding is received and goals are met.

Donations made through GlobalGiving are higher impact because:

  • Money is going directly to a well-defined project versus supporting general operating expenses
  • Projects on globalgiving.com have exposure to thousands of donors, enabling us to aggregate multiple sources of funding for each project
  • Many projects on globalgiving.com are located in the developing world where a little money goes a long way
