Mission Statement

Our Mission is to give of our skills in the animal communications and care fields, to give our love and labor and share an environment for the healing of animals that are in dire need. We facilitate the expertise, guidance and utmost care for them, so that they may recover from neglect, injury, cruelty or from being unwanted or endangered. We assist them in finding happy and enriched lives in forever homes. In addition, we share these animals with children and adults in wellness programs, who’s lives may be parallel in events or circumstances. Our educational programs teach people how to properly care for animals, how to train them with friendship, and how we can learn from them.

Description

We are a very large rescue, run exclusively by volunteers. We specialize in equines, including domestic rescues, as well as critically endangered Przewalski's horses, and all three species of zebra, two of which are threatened and endangered. We also have limited space for cats and dogs, as well as other animals, some of which include goats, birds, fowl, alpacas and llamas, tortoises, and other species that require our help. We also have programs for education and wellness. Our therapy animals are many of our rescue animals that may have permanent disablement. The animals in these programs share their stories of injury and recovery, and now, give back with their human counterparts. The wealth of health benefits are truly amazing. Our prgrams are all centered around Friendship Training TM. This means that all communication with the animals is done using their own language, including behaviors and even sometimes vocalizations. The animals understand the humans immediately and are overjoyed when they realize that the people here do understand and speak their language. Animals are so behaviorally cognizant that often humans give the wrong message to animals because the human does not realize what they are saying behaviorally. This is what is taught here at Hearts & Hands Animal Rescue. People refer to Hearts & Hands as a 'magical' place, where the animals are wholly respected for their intelligence, their social protocols, emotions, needs, wants, and are allowed to make choices, which most often in their interaction with humans they are not allowed to make any choices, and are force trained....yes, this is a very special place indeed, where the animals and the people are best friends and respect and understand each other in an amazing way.
