GV is funded by a combination of program fees, foundation funding and individual donations but is working to diversify its funding by increasing private foundation, individual donor, and corporate support. To achieve this GV is seeking a Development & Marketing Intern. The Intern will work directly with the Development & Marketing Manager to research and cultivate supporters, manage the organization’s donor databases, track and evaluate fundraising efforts, and organize events. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and motivated individual to develop skills in nonprofit development work and ultimately learn about global youth leadership programs and impact.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of marketing and communications collateral, such as blogs, the eNewsletter and PR activities.
  • Conducting research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Assist development staff in entering data into SalesForce.com, GV’s donor database.
  • Draft correspondence, reports, proposals and donor appeals.
  • Assist with planning and delivering donor events, campaigns and other activities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Maintain donor files and other development materials.
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Assisting with researching state and federal regulations regarding donor solicitation and general development efforts (e.g., raffles, auctions)

Mission Statement

Empowering young people to be socially and environmentally conscious global leaders.

Description

Global Visionaries facilitates a multi-year youth leadership program with an emphasis on social justice and environmentalism. We work with a deliberately diverse group of high school students from the Greater Seattle area. Through experiential activities, workshops, retreats, community service, and a two-week cultural immersion to Guatemala, GV prepares Seattle-area high school students to define and address environmental and social justice issues in their communities while developing as leaders and becoming more aware of their global citizenship.

First Year participants who complete the program are encouraged to join our Advanced Leadership program. Advanced participants lead their First Year peers through all aspects of the program, including though activities, retreats, as well as through service on GV’s Board of Directors.

We believe that truly empathetic leadership is best developed through interactions with a diverse group of peers. Thus, our goal is to recruit program cohorts made up of 50% youth of color and 50% white youth; 50% youth from families with a household income below the Seattle median household income and 50% youth from families with household income above the Seattle median household income.
