ORGANIZATION: Alliance for African Assistance

This is a special volunteer opportunity through the TEAM/Changes program. The Refugee Event Intern will help design and carry out the TEAM/Changes programs’ Bill Clinic throughout the month of November. The goal of these workshops is to not only advocate for refugees but also educate them so they cannot be taken advantage of in the future. We are looking for a charismatic outgoing individual who is passionate about advocacy and refugee issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Develop marketing materials to build awareness for advocacy events
•Work one-on-one with refugees individually during educational sessions

  • Assist with the creation of curriculum

•Participate in training to facilitate learning


REQUIREMENTS:

COMMITTMENT:

The position requires a minimum commitment of 2 months (October and November) with a time commitment of 6-12 hours a week. These hours must be completed Monday-Friday during the business week.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
•Knowledge of a second language a plus
•Comfortable working with people
• Detail oriented, organized, and ability to think creatively
• Familiarity with MS Word and Publisher
• Working towards a degree in Marketing, Business, International Development, or a related field a plus, but not required
