INTERN DESCRIPTION:
The Journalism Intern will report on refugee issues, agency events, and department developments among
other topics. Through reporting and writing newsletter and blog articles, the Journalism Intern will increase
awareness while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of a nonprofit organization.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual interested in writing and refugee issues. Our ideal candidate
is passionate about communicating the refugee struggle within the broader San Diego area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Write monthly newsletter articles and agency blogs
• Conduct research and interviews for written content as needed
• Create monthly Facebook and Twitter posts
REQUIREMENTS:
COMMITMENT:
The position requires a minimum three month commitment for 8-12 hours per week.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent command of written English including: grammar, sentence construction, paragraph flow, etc
• Good proof reading skills, detail oriented, and highly organized
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Facebook, and Twitter (experience with Mail Chimp is a plus)
• Studied or majoring in Journalism, English, Political Science, International Development, or a related field
