Gain professional experience and use your creative energy to make Albuquerque a better place! You can earn money for education while working to make homelessness in Albuquerque rare, short-lived, and nonrecurring. Heading Home is currently recruiting an AmeriCorps* VISTA volunteer to assist us in strengthening our current programs through fundraising, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and educational programming. This volunteer position is full-time and a year-long commitment beginning February 2015. Volunteers will be required to attend an AmeriCorps* VISTA Volunteer training before their year of service begins, and out of state travel may be required. Travel expenses will be covered by the AmeriCorps* VISTA program.

Description
We are an Albuquerque based 501c3 non-profit organization, established in 2004. Heading Home is the backbone agency for ABQ Heading Home, a community wide initiative that aims to end chronic homelessness in Albuquerque. Along with our community partners in the for-profit, non-profit, private, public, and political sectors, we are providing permanent, supportive housing solutions to people who are medically vulnerable and are experiencing chronic homelessness. The ABQ Heading Home initiative has housed over 800 individuals since it began in 2011. Head Home also provides emergency shelter each night for 88 adult men experiencing homelessness through the Albuquerque Opportunity Center (AOC).
